Colophon

This site is built on WordPress and the Genesis Theme with design by Peter Gurry and programming by Edwin Smith. The main typefaces are Garamond Premier and Scala Sans.

What’s a colophon?

A colophon is typically a comment left by the scribe giving details about the production of the manuscript. They can be extremely rich sources of information about a manuscript’s past. Unfortunately, they are relatively rare in biblical manuscripts.

The colophon in GA 1415 (f. 189r) giving the date it was written (AD 1145).
