The Text & Canon Institute is committed to illuminating the history of the Bible by training future scholars who will use their skill to serve the church. The directors primarily do this in their role as professors in the doctoral program at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Midwestern offers the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biblical Studies as an advanced research degree to prepare students for teaching and research in theological schools, colleges, and universities, as well as for the scholarly enhancement of ministry practice.
